Why the MetalWrap Series
The simplicity of the MetalWrap Series is in its integrated single-panel design. MetalWrap Series includes an air and vapor barrier, insulation and metal drain plane all on one panel. This technology eliminates the need for conventional batt or board installation, exterior gypsum board, air barriers, vapor retarders and building wraps, while providing better thermal efficiency and moisture control to build better walls.
The Single Panel Benefit
Most backup wall systems are installed in three or four steps. All too often, these moisture barriers fail, either because of inherent design flaws or improper installation practices. One common downfall is the wet insulation that results when humidity and pressure differentials between a building’s interior and the exterior produce condensation. Another is inexpert installation by untrained personnel that leaves gaps in the air and vapor barrier or insulation.
No matter how they occur, over the long-term, these air and water breaches can generate significant damage. For example, moisture can eventually cause framing screws to rust, compromising the connection between the framing and exterior façade. That can lead to a whole host of problems. At a minimum, the final outcome is a back-up wall that not only wastes energy, but one that also fosters the formation of mold within the building envelope.
